Tutor: Cara Chotiner, Senior Yoga Teacher - Yoga Alliance
Restorative yoga focuses on a slower approach to the traditional poses found in Hatha yoga to unlock their calming, recuperative benefits for body & mind. Using the more restful practices of yoga, in this class we hold poses for longer but supported periods of time to allow the deeper tissues to release. Softer flows for joint mobility , gentle floor work, breathing meditations and deep guided relaxations all create a space that allows us to relax and unwind while releasing tension & stiffness in the body coming from a hectic day and busy mind. You will still get a beautiful stretch to ease those aches & pains but in a more mindful approach that allows the nervous system to calm itself and your whole system to rebalance. This class is suitable for all levels of experience. Especially beneficial for those wanting a more gentle but deep practice, stiff joints, to complement any sporting activity, recovering from injury or simply taking some well-deserved “me time” . Whether you are brand new to yoga or have a regular practice – this session is for anyone looking to slow down, breathe deep and experience rest & relaxation
(It is advisable to have a sweatshirt/fleece or hoodie during class to stay nice & cosy during relaxation periods. Please bring your own mat as mats are not provided. A towel or blanket, small cushion or yoga block are all useful for your comfort in class)
