Walking Exploration of Dublin

Step into the story of Dublin through its streets, buildings, and public art in this lively and engaging walking seminar. Perfect for adults with a curiosity about the city’s artistic and architectural landscape, this 12-week programme offers a unique blend of history, creativity, and critical reflection —all experienced on foot.

Each week, you’ll explore a different area of Dublin, guided by a qualified national tour guide who brings the city’s layers to life. From the medieval roots of Dublin Castle to the Georgian elegance of Merrion Square and the bold modernism of the Docklands, you’ll gain fresh insight into how architecture expresses civic identity and cultural change.

The course also delves into Dublin’s rich public art scene, from iconic sculptures and historic memorials to contemporary street art and hidden alleyway murals. You'll visit works by artists such as James Earley, Subset, and Aches, while discussing the roles of art in public memory, urban regeneration, and community expression.

Highlights include visits to Christ Church Cathedral, the Spire, Liberty Lane murals, and the vibrant Icon Walk in Temple Bar. You’ll also explore literary landmarks tied to figures like Oscar Wilde and James Joyce, considering how literature and place intertwine.

Designed for beginners and intermediate learners alike, no prior knowledge is needed—just a pair of walking shoes and a sense of curiosity. The final week includes participant-led mini-tours where you get to share your favourite spot or discovery with the group, making the course both informative and interactive.

With a small group of like-minded learners (maximum 10), this course is ideal for adults who want to deepen their understanding of Dublin’s evolving identity through its art, architecture, and streetscapes. Discover the city in a new light—one step at a time
