10 WEEK ENGLISH LITERATURE COURSE: FROM MONDAY 16th JANUARY, 2017 at 6:15pm
This term we will study the following works in this order:
An introduction to the elements of poetry (rhyme, meter, rhythm, stanzas and form) and a study of some of Robert Frost’s best and most accessible poems, including: Design, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, The Road Not Taken, Birches, Mending Wall, Desert Places and Meeting and Passing.
TRANSLATIONS - a play by Brian Friel
Brian Friel described Translations as “a play about language and only about language”. First performed in the Guildhall, Derry, in 1980, the cast list included Stephen Rea as Owen and Liam Neeson as Doalty. It reflects the struggle between Ireland and England in 1833.
